The problem
Developing several websites repeats the same server, database and local hostname setup. Docktainer connects Portainer and docker-hostmanager with scripts for a shared start/stop workflow.
Architecture and decisions
Projects retain their own Compose configuration. A local override lets one developer use the environment without changing the rest of the team's setup. Portainer provides a shared view of running services.
Status and tradeoffs
I keep this earlier project as an infrastructure reference, not a recommendation to install the original stack today. GitLab does not mark the repository as archived; current maintenance and compatibility: TODO verify. Shared local development is not isolation for untrusted agents.
The next step in isolated environments: AgentBox.
